Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt (July 29, 1959) was finally sentenced to five years jail by the Supreme Court on Thursday 21, March, 2013 for possession of illegal weapons in a long-running case linked to the 1993 Mumbai bombings.

Actor Sanjay Dutt (53 years), has to spend another three-and-a-half-years in jail in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case in which 257 people had lost their lives. On Thursday  he said to media that he is “heart broken” and under “emotional distress” after the Supreme Court verdict.
“I have already suffered for 20 years and been in jail for 18 months. If they want me to suffer more I have to be strong. I am heart broken because today along with me, my three children and my wife and my family will undergo the punishment. I have always respected the judicial system and will continue to do so, even with tears in my eyes,” he said in an emotional statement to the media.
The industry is said to have Rs.250 Crore on stake with Sanjay Dutt going back to jail, that too for quite a long period. And moreover as this decision came from the Apex court, there is no chance that he could come out on bail like in 2007. This being Supreme Court orders, Sanjay Dutt have to stay behind bars for three and a half years.
