US Gun Laws : Automatic Weapons Vs Hand Guns

Talking with a resident who has moved here from California, Here is his reply: I think that it is alright to have them, as in AK47. A semi - automatic. Is truly not a need for a person to have it is not a hunting rifle or a personal handgun. It is fun to go shooting skeet sect. but it is a catch 22, In California you cannot own them. I don’t think it should differ, it is not the gun that is destructive it is the person with the gun if someone wants to use it for a bad purpose they will. Documentation on them would help. But they do have that and it is still an issue. Some people are just collectors.
See that was a mistake in Colorado he was diagnosed with a mental illness and they sold him a gun. An automatic weapon, if they would have checked his medical records that would not have happened. They need to implement a red flag system when a person tries to buy a gun that it will not give out Hippa laws of personal info just red flags the name to Show they are not allowed to bare arms i.e. D.I.D, schizophrenia, Manic Depressive, any signs of violence portrayed in diagnostic care, delusional, Voices in head, etc. Like we do not allow the blind to drive ~ Jeff Waite, Utah.
I don’t care either way with the right to bare arms either automatics or handguns. It was written to give protection against the military. The reason to have the right is to have the same weapons as the military ~ David Workman, Utah.
Automatic weapons I don’t think there is any use for a regular person. But there again, an automatic weapon is only dangerous when put in the hands of a bad person~ person with ill intent. But say you put an automatic weapon in the hands of a collector and it is just another gun ~ Larry Powell, Utah.
A gun is a gun, what is the difference; someone is going to kill someone they will. Guns are like nuclear devices they should have never been invented ~ Matt Hall.

It is the opinion of the author here today that automatic weapons having the range of 50-1000 rpm’s should not be sold to any civilian. As a handgun has limited bullets before reloading it is less likely to cause mass murders as in the Aurora shootings this summer in Colorado. I realize that this is an issue worldwide not just in America.
“The problem with this argument is obvious: gun violence has diminished but mass shootings have exploded in frequency since the 1970s.”

“People have a right to handguns and hunting rifles. I don’t think they have a right to semiautomatic, quasi–machine guns that can shoot hundred of bullets at a time. And I actually think the Democrats are being foolish as they are being cowardly. I think there is more support for some moderate forms of gun control.”

As each country is dealing with an issue similar, even the most peaceful rated Norway had a similar incident within the past 12 months. This is a pandemic that must be addressed for the safety of all mankind.
