The "police procedural" is now an official genre on television. Network television is overfull with stories of suspects being arrested and then booked by the police. These shows lay out all the details of how our legal system works, in all its complexity. One of the areas that is usually dealt with in detail is the collection of sufficient evidence by the police, in order to secure the arrest of a suspect. Without sufficient evidence, a suspect can't be charged with a crime, and so the onus is on the police to collect enough evidence to have a chance for a conviction.
The Process of Posting Bail Once the police do have enough evidence to make a legal arrest, however, they can bring in a suspect and have them placed in a "holding" cell until someone can arrange for bail money and pay it to the court. Once this has been done, the suspect can be freed and begin working with a lawyer to create a line of defense. All of this does take some doing, but it is the system that is now in place, legally, and it does work to help a suspect attain their freedom.
Bail Bonds If a suspect is unable to raise the funds needed for bail on their own, they can have a friend or family member take out a bond loan from wayne county bail bonds or another local bail bond center. These bonds can then be posted to the court to ensure the suspects' release. While out on bail the suspect can begin to prepare their defense with an attorney. Once the case has been tried by the court, the money will be returned and those funds can be repaid to the bond company. The system isn't too complex, and it is a way for a suspect to attain their freedom during the legal process.
