Each year, more women attain their concealed carry permits and start arming themselves to stay safe and to defend those that they love. Fashion and holster designers have taken notice of the trend and starting pump out high-quality concealment options made just for women.
Here are some of those options and why they might be the right choice for you as you engage in your inalienable right to bear arms.
Clothing
Many clothing items have become available in recent years. Some do a better job of concealment than others.
Some manufacturers offer t-shirts or tank tops with ambidextrous underarm concealment options that don't bulge. Others offer leggings or pants that have either interior or exterior holstering options to accommodate your preferences for comfort and concealment.
While these options often make for easy concealment, some brands don't allow for easy, quick, or discreet draws. Be sure to test these products before committing to a style or a brand.
Outerwear
For colder climates or winter months, many designers now carry CCW jacket, vest, or full coat options. Outerwear provides excellent concealment as they natural have more bulk than some typical clothing options. Again designers have built in ambidextrous holstering in many outwear brands. They also typically have more storage options for things like additional ammo.
The obvious downside to the outerwear option is that if you're going indoors, it is not always sensible to keep a coat on. Carefully consider your habits and environment when looking to this option.
Underwear
There are two major categories of underwear concealment options for women. For gun owners that are more comfortable with chest, torso, or underarm concealment can find a wide variety of bras or sports bras on the market that offer those options. Gun owners that prefer hip concealment can find compression shorts with interior holstering.
These low profile concealment options allow you to be armed in almost any setting while often emphasizing comfort and fit. As with some other clothing options, though, drawing a weapon might be more cumbersome with some of these options.
Purses and Bags
While not particularly new to the market, purses or other bags with CCW pockets built-in are starting to become more readily available. Designers are also taking the time to make these options more fashionable and discreet.
With the market on the rise, you should expect to see more companies dedicating themselves to more innovative, functional, and stylish concealment options for women.
